Obituary of Florence Weatherly

Florence Florene McCullar Weatherly, 90 of Ball, LA passed from this life, Sunday, August 28, 2011. Mrs. Weatherly was born to the union of Samuel Alfred McCullar and Mary Etta Fuller McCullar in Brinkley, AR on September 23, 1920. As an adult she made her home in several locations: Oak Ridge, TN, Brinkley, AR, Lake Charles, LA, Olla, LA, Many (Toledo Bend), LA, Jena, LA and Ball, LA. While on Toledo Bend she enjoyed bass fishing. After the death of her husband the family moved her to Jena to be near her daughter, Hedy. At the time of her death she was living with her daughter, Becky in Ball. Mrs. Weatherly was a devoted member of Fellowship Chapel and loved her church family members. Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Fellowship Chapel in Ball, LA with Pastor George Carr officiating. Special music by Southern Gospel Music Artist, Ben Waites will be played prior to the memorial service. Ben and Mrs. Weatherly had a special friendship. Interment will follow at Pinehill Cemetery near Olla, LA under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia, LA. Mrs. Weatherly was preceded in death by her husband of 61 ½ years, Ira Vernon Weatherly, her parents: Samuel Alfred McCullar and Mary Etta Fuller McCullar of Harrisonburg, AR. She was a devoted mother of three sons, victims of Muscular Dystrophy: Donald Edward Weatherly, John Edward Weatherly and Ira Vernon Weatherly, Jr. Survivors include her three children: Hedy W. Butler and husband, Bob of Jena, LA, Becky W. Gough and husband, Benny of Ball, LA and Raymond Weatherly and wife, Cathie G. Weatherly of Beaumont, TX, ten grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Neal Broadway, Bob Butler, Benny Gough, Gregory Gough, Phillip Weatherly and Ricky Weatherly. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Fellowship Chapel. The family will receive visitors at Fellowship Chapel on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 5 PM to 8 PM and Wednesday, 10 AM until time of service.
