Obituary of J Cox

Funeral services for J D Cox age 85 of Columbia will be held 10am Friday October 7, 2011 from the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Burroughs Garden of Memories Cemetery, east of Columbia. Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 3:30 until 9pm at the Riser Funeral Home located at 7131 U S Highway 165, Columbia. J D Cox was born on February 4, 1926 in Arkansas and passed from this life on Thursday October 6, 2011 at the LSU Medical Center in Monroe following an extended illness. Mr. Cox was a Veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents Art Cox and Alberta Rankin Cox, and by his beloved wife Evelyn Neu Cox. He was a retired boiler maker and a member of the boiler makers union,and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his daughter Linda Harrelson of Columbia, and by three sons, Larry Cox of Monroe, Don Cox of Fort Necessity, and Walter Cox of Mesa, Arizona. He also leaves eleven grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. Members of the Masonic Lodge will serve as pallbearers.
