Obituary of Clarice Whittington
Funeral services for Clarice Whittington, age 86, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. David McGuffee and Bro. Marty Kutz officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery in Clarks. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Clarice was born to the union of Bill and Clara Green Strickland in Hebert and she passed from this life on July 16, 2017 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
She worked for the Monroe City School system for 8 years.
She was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Monroe and she loved to cook. She loved flowers and gardening. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all of her heart. She also had many nieces, nephews, and friends that she loved dearly. She was a devoted woman of God who served the Lord her entire life.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Billy O. Whittington; her daughter: Shelia Welch; her parents; siblings: Clifton Strickland, Lurlene Whittington, Odell Prine, Irby Strickland, Billy Strickland, Eldredge Strickland, and Howard “Ray” Strickland.
She is survived by her daughter: Barbara A. Rawls and her husband Donald of Calhoun; sons: David O. Whittington and his wife Elaine of West Monroe; Tommy Whittington and his wife Debbie of West Monroe; Raymond Whittington and his wife Ronda of Gallatin, TN; grandchildren: Tammie Barnett, Shane Rawls, Micah Rawls, Clint Whittington, Lori Welch, Alex Turjous, Jennfier Hanna, and Daniel Whittington; great- grandchildren: Bradley Barnett, Karah Underwood, Tanner Rawls, Alyssa Rawls, Kaydee Rawls, Eli Rawls, Micah Grantham, Briley Whittington, Easton Whittington, Alex Turjous, Gavin Hanna, Oliva Sullivan, and Hanna Sullivan; great-great-grandchild: Liam Underwood; son-in-law: Ray Welch and children: Whitney Sullivan and husband Chris Sullivan; Paige Welch.
Pallbearers will be Micah Rawls, Shane Rawls, Chris Sullivan, Tanner Rawls, Clint Whittington, and Jon Underwood.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Ray Welch.
