Obituary of James Coates

Funeral services for James Leroy Coates age 72 of Kelly will be held 10am Thursday October 27, 2011 from the Fellowship Baptist Church West of Columbia with the Rev. Brian Rankin officiating. Interment will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery with services under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 4pm until 9pm at the church. James Leroy Coates was born on March 21, 1939 at Columbia, LA to the union of his parents Horace W. Coates and Nellie Bennett Coates. He passed from this life on Tuesday October 25, 2011 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe . Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mary Lou, and two brothers, Jimmy Coates and Dean Coates. He was a retired offshore Production Supervisor and was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in the Vietnam War. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Peggy Carr Coates of Mobile, Al ; six sons; Steven Coates and wife Beverly of Calhoun, Kenneth Coates and wife Ami of West Monroe, and Brian Coates and wife Misti of Columbia, South Carolina, Michael Hayes, Shane Hayes and Stephen Hayes. He also leaves three daughters; Tina Williams and husband Chris of West Monroe, Brandy Oliveaux and husband Phillip of Columbia, and Angela Hayes of Mobile; his beloved sister, Judy Whitlock and husband Louis of West Monroe, and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and one on the way. Pallbearers will be Ethan Duncan, Bubba Luther, Jason Moore, Dan Carr, Justin Carr and Damien Moore.
