Obituary of James Andrew Strange

Funeral services for James Andrew Strange age 76 of Columbia will be held 2:00 PM Friday September 29, 2017 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Wayne Hendrixson  and Bro. Eddie Riley officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery west of Columbia. Visitation will be on Thursday September 28, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. James Andrew Strange was born on August 26, 1939 at Columbia, LA to the union of his parents Andrew and Veteree Strange and he passed from this life on Tuesday September 26, 2017 at the Winnfield Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Winnfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his first wife June Calhoun Strange; his brothers : Robert and Melvin Strange; his sisters: Lorene Hatten and Joyce Stevens and his step-daughter: Bessie Strange. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and a member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge # 164 with a fifty year pin of service.James retired with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and then became a jailor with the Caldwell Parish Sheriffs Department. James was a friend to all and will be missed in our community.Left to cherish his memory are his sons:His beloved wife: Maggie Spillers Strange, Herman Patrick Strange and Daniel Emery Strange and his step sons: Preston Strange, A.B. Strange and Andrew Strange; his step daughter: Marion Kay Knowles; grandchildren: Hailey Strange, Austin Strange, Kristen Strange,; step-grandchildren: Angie Kelly, Matthew Strange, Melissa Amos, Shelby and Sidney Rae Strange, Bobby Feltner, Mandy Feltner Strange, and Andrew “Teddy” Strange; his great-grandchildren: Tristen, Gavin, Ellen, Micah,Sarah Grace, Samuel, Tinsely and Analise Rose. Serving as pallbearers will be Teddy Strange, Michael Danford, Justin Smith, Rusey Hatten, Tristen Frederick, Chris Kelley, Chuckie Cornwell and Carl Cornwell. Ronnie Bigger will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
