Obituary of Lidice Alice Broussard

Funeral Mass for Lidice Alice Broussard, 73 of Columbia, LA will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at St. John Catholic Church, Columbia with Father Dale Meade officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM at Consolata Cemetery, Lake Charles, LA under the direction of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia. Visitation will be at the church from 5 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 with a Rosary Service beginning at 7 PM.

Lidice was born in San Angelo, Texas on April 18, 1944 to the union of her parents, Jerry and Lenora Pohl and she passed from life on October 9, 2017 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Lidice was an educator who taught school for over 30 years. After graduating from Northeast Louisiana University with her education degree, she went on to earn her Master's plus 30 from McNeese University in Lake Charles. She was an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa sorority, an international honorary organization of women educators. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and always entertained them with fun craft projects. She also enjoyed baking and decorating cakes. Lidice was an active member of St. John Catholic Church in Columbia.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Walter Ray Broussard; her parents; her brother, Robert Pohl and two sisters: Georgia Menke and Patsy Rowland.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jason Broussard and wife, Kim; daughter, Lydia Crockett; sister, Sallie Flint and husband, James; grandchildren: Ava Broussard, Emma Broussard, Josh Crawford, Chris Crawford, Collin Crockett and Margo Crockett; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and those special to her: Crickett Crockett, Charlie Mac Rowland, and Georgie Pohl.

Serving as pallbearers will be Derick Pohl, Brad McCarty, Brock McCarty, Casey Barton, Dylan Edmiston, and Wesley Blackmon. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Edmiston, Brady May and Colden Russell.
