Obituary of Jera Ray
Funeral services for Jera V. Warner Ray, age 88 of Columbia, will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Jimmy Goodman officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening at Riser Funeral Home from 5 PM to 8 PM.
Mrs. Ray was born on December 9, 1922 in Holum, LA to the union of George Marvin Warner and Charlotte Volentine Warner and passed from this life on Sunday, December 4, 2011. Known as "Jerry" to her family and friends, she retired after 40 years of service with South Central Bell telephone company. She was a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers and a steward for C.W.A. Mrs. Jera held many hobbies including sewing and painting. She was a member of Holum Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Marjorie Doyle Warner and three brothers: Thurman Warner, Maloy Warner and R.L. Warner.
Survivors include two sisters: O'Reese Warner Lutrick Richardson of West Monroe and Billy Ruth Warner Elliott of Grayson, sister-in-law, Alma Haddox Warner of West Monroe and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be her nephews: Dan Warner, Warren Lutrick, Michael Elliott, Kevin Warner, Keith Lutrick and Barry Lutrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Hilburn Warner, T.H. Tingle, Glenn Gilmore, Tollie Volentine, Steve May and Ricky Ratcliff.
In lieu of flowers any planned memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
