Obituary of Rose Mercer Jones

Rose Mercer Jones, age 70, of Hebert passed from this life on December 5, 2011 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. Rose, the daughter of Willie "Cooter" and Audie Mercer, was born in Winnsboro on December 20, 1940. She was a lady in the truest sense of the word that touched the heart of each person she came in contact with. Her sweet smile and gentle understanding was a testament to the life of Godly woman. She was preceded in death by her father: Willie "Cooter" Mercer, three brother; Pete Mercer, Harvey Mercer, and Sidney Mercer; one sister Ruth McKay. She is survived by her husband; Billy Jones, Sr. of Hebert; son; Billy Jones, Jr. and his wife Janice of Hebert; mother: Audie Mercer; three brothers: Stanley Mercer of Mangham; Kenny Mercer and his wife Vicki of Mangham; Tommy Mercer of Mangham; six sisters: Dot Faircloth and her husband Dee of Vidalia; Jewel Barton of Mangham; Judy Barton and her husband David of Mangham; Trudy Wiggins and her husband Roy of Mangham; Wanda Thames and her husband George of Mangham; Debra Poindexter of Mangham; three grandchildren: Nikki Stephens and her husband Mel of Hebert; Cindi Jones of Hebert; Daniel Jones and his wife Elizabeth of Hebert; great-grandchildren: Drake Jones Grier, Joshua Stephens, James Stephens, Leah Stephens, Jonathan Stephens, and Phillip Stephens. Funeral services for Rose will be held 10 AM Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Bethany Baptist Church with Bro. Brian Rankin officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the church. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Hebert. Services are under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.
