Obituary of Ellis Hester

Funeral services for Mr. Ellis C. Hester, age 86 of West Monroe, will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 7, 2012 from the sanctuary of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Grayson with Rev. Wesley Pittman officiating, Rev. Tommy Nelson delivering the eulogy and Bro. Lance Reed conducting graveside services. Interment will follow at Cross Roads Cemetery in Grayson. Visitation will be held Friday evening at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia from 5 PM to 8 PM then again Saturday morning at Cross Roads Baptist Church from 9 AM until time of services. Mr. Hester was born on June 13, 1925 in Caldwell Parish to the union of Samuel Hester and Thelma Parker Hester and passed from this life on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Stoney Brook Assisted Living in West Monroe. He retired as a diesel mechanic from Southern Equipment Tractor Company and was a member of Ridge Avenue Baptist Church. Ellis was a caring and devoted husband to his wife of 59 years. He was known as "Sweetie" to his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Sam and Thelma Hester. Survivors include his wife, Marcille Alger Hester, three brothers: Nathan Hester, Bobby Hester and Johnny Hester and sister, Carolyn Hendricks and husband, Ray. Pallbearers will be Rodney Reed, Ken Alger, Justin Richardson, Chad Wise, Tony Hester, Rick Estess, Jim Cuthbert and Buddy Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Shelby McManus, Walter Plummer, Parker McNeely, Brad McNeely, George Stamper and Charles Floyd.
