Obituary of Willie Nell (Bill) Strebeck

Willie Nell (Bill) Richardson Strebeck, 82, beloved wife, mother, Granny, Gran, aunt and friend passed away on March 13, 2012. She was the lady who was known for the smile on her face and the love in her heart. Her funeral services will be Thursday, March 15, 2012, at 2:00 PM at the Riser Funeral Home Chapel in Columbia with burial to follow at Mt. Rose Cemetery in Grayson. Rev. Alan Miller, family friend and confidant, will be officiating with Rev. Rick Crandall assisting at the graveside services Willie Nell was born in Caldwell Parish on July 23, 1929, to Milton and Onnie Richardson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Marie Burns, M. J. Richardson, Jerry Richardson, and Dorothy Lee Richardson. She was a devoted wife, mother, and Granny. She loved life and loved her family and all her extended family. She was always quick with a joke and always said she wanted to be a stand-up comedian or a singer. She was a member of the Grayson Baptist Church. She loved music and sang in several church choirs over the years. She was a charter member of East Bayou Baptist Church in Lafayette where she and Howard lived for many years before they retired to Grayson in 1984. After they retired, they were able to travel. Willie Nell Strebeck is survived by her husband of 65 years, Howard R. Strebeck of Grayson, her daughters and sons-in-law Cathy and Sam Carroll of Bossier City, LA , and Sandy and West Newsom of Humble, TX, her son and daughter-in-law Neil and Tammy Strebeck of Lafayette,LA; grandchildren, Camille and Brian Arriola, Joellen and Charles Ford, Danielle and Ryan Shively, Tyler and Donna Strebeck, Tiffani Strebeck, and Heather and Eddie Cox ; great grandchildren, Caleb Mehlhorn, Micah Mehlhorn, William Ford, Colby Cox, Caden Arriola, Mason Cox, Alice Marie Ford, Scarlet Shively, and Hudson Strebeck and nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to count. Mrs. Strebeck had been a resident of the Haven for several years. She loved her Haven family and they loved her and took wonderful care of her. The family would like to thank her Haven family for the love and care for the past few years. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Wesley Burns, Tommy Parker, Greg Wilbanks, Jason Maxwell, Ricky Nevels, Jerry Meredith, Robert Lamb, and Terry Johnson. Memorials can be made to Mt. Rose Cemetery, 2301 Hwy 850, Grayson or the Grayson Baptist Church Property Fund, P.O. Box 359, Grayson, LA 71435. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
