Obituary of Karen Butler
Funeral services for Suzy Parmer Butler age 56 of Clarks will be held 2pm Monday March 19, 2012 from the sanctuary of the Columbia Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Julius Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery west of Columbia. Visitation will be on Sunday evening from 5 to 9pm at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, and again on Monday morning at the Columbia Heights Baptist Church from 9am until time of service. Born Karen Suzette Parmer on December 30, 1955 in Monroe, LA ; to the union of her parents Edward Eugene Parmer and Dorothy Mae Moody Parmer; she passed from this life on Thursday March 15, 2012 at the St. Francis Medical Center, Downtown Campus, following an extended illness. She was simply known to everyone affectionately as Suzy. She and her husband Tom operated for many years a very successful fruit stand in the Columbia area and were loved and appreciated by all who knew them. Suzy was a devoted member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Columbia Chapter, and a faithful member of the Columbia Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Mae Moody Parmer, and by her step mother Merle Bromley Parmer, and by her mother-in-law Pauline Butler. Survivors include her husband, Tom Butler of Clarks; her daughter Sonya McIlwain of Clarks; her father Edward Parmer, Clarks; two step sons, Robert Butler and Owen Butler both of West Monroe; brother, Dennis Parmer and wife Connie of Grayson; brother-in-law Robert Butler of Alexandria; sister-in-law; Paulette Baker of Grapevine, Texas. She also leaves her precious grandchildren Peggy Jones, Dawson Brister, and Coby Brister; her great-grandchildren Sadie Brook Suzette Jones and Brandon Bellmore; and her niece, Amanda McCain, Brazoria, Texas. Pallbearers will be Tim Burris ,Danny Arnold, Jerry Mobley, Vernon Clay, Brandon Bellmore, and David Lincecum. Honorary pallbearers will be Logan Whitten, Carl Duke, and Steve May. In lieu of flowers any planned memorials may be made to the Columbia Heights Baptist Church or to the Columbia , Louisiana Order of the Eastern Star.
