Obituary of Nell P. Girod

Funeral services for Nell P. Girod, 64, of Grayson, will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Jimmy Goodman officiating. Jamie Stapleton will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson. Visitation will be Monday from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Nell was born May 12, 1947 to C.W. and Molly Bassett Patterson in Texarkana, AR and she passed from this life on March 17, 2012 at St Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was preceded in death by her husband: Bobby Joe Girod; her parents; two brothers: Kenneth Patterson and Gary Lyn Patterson; sister: Mary Patterson Fischer. Survivors include two sons: James Girod of Columbia; Bryan Girod and his wife Kim of Grayson; one brother: Howard Patterson of Kalin, MS; two sisters: Ora P. Moore of Shreveport; Nancy Keohane of Leysian Field, TX; four grandchildren: Justin Girod and his wife Chasity; Jessica Girod, Molly Girod, and Traycer Girod; two great-grandbabies; Ava Ply and Hayden Girod. Nell was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She gave of herself selflessly, both at work and at home. She will be greatly missed and never replaced. Pallbearers will be her nephews: Michael Patterson, Tim Henley, Jason Blunt, Chase Simmons, Colby Simmons, and Jeremy Blunt. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Fatheree, Jared Blunt, Steve May, and Glenn Ray Gilmore.
