Obituary of Billy Head

Funeral services for Billy Parnell Head, age 74 of Hebert, will be held at 10 AM Friday, April 6, 2012 from the sanctuary of Bethany Baptist Church with Bro. Brian Rankin officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening at the church from 5 PM to 8 PM. Mr. Head was born on December 2, 1935 in Start, LA to the union of James Garland Head and Amy Letlow Head and passed from this life on April 3, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. Billy worked as a sheet metal laborer and was a member of the local Sheet Metal Worker's Union. He served in the US Air Force and was a member of Bellview Baptist Church. He loved to garden, watch Nascar racing and LSU football. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Polly Leach. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 51 years, Barbara Head; two daughters: Amy Shipp and husband, Rod and Lori Johnston and husband, James all of Hebert; brother, Jerry Head and wife, Carolyn of Start; two sisters: Betty Hill and husband, Gena of Archibald and Shirley Ratcliff and husband, Bennie of Rayville; two grandchildren: Heath Shipp and wife, Cassie and Alecia Johnston and husband, Logan Dortch; two great-grandchildren: Lee Shipp and Caitlynn Shipp and his very special companion, Bull. Pallbearers will be Vernon Sanders, Allen Brown, Alan Maxwell, Terry Johnston, Jake Dannehl and Jimmy Gregory.
