Obituary of Myrtis McCartney

Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtis Stephens McCartney, age 100 of Olla, will be held at 10 AM Thursday, September 6, 2012 from the sanctuary of Pine Hill Baptist Church in Olla with Bro. David McGuffee officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Olla. Visitation will be Wednesday evening at Riser Funeral Home in Olla from 5 PM to 8 PM. Mrs. McCartney was born on September 23, 1911 in Mississippi to the union of Claude Darden Stephens and Bessie Monk Stephens and passed from this life on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at her residence. She was a homemaker and member of Pine Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur Odell "Struts" McCartney; six sisters: Ester Weeks, Ollie Woodard, Annie Mae Peavy, Thelma Roberts, Irene Hargrove and Mildred Goldman and her brother, Claude Stephens. Survivors include her son, William Odell McCartney and wife, Dorothy Marie of Olla; two grandsons: Dawson Odell "Tater" McCartney and wife, Wendy and David Moreau; great-grandson, Landon Odell McCartney and four great-granddaughters: Chelsea Brown, Amber Moreau, Melissa Moreau and Madison Proffer. Pallbearers will be Joe McCartney, Darrell McCartney, Phillip Grainger, Clay Maxwell, Whitney McCartney and Eddie Peavy. Honorary pallbearers will be Kent Winberry, Blake Sims and Bohman McCartney.
