Obituary of Michael Hollenshead

Funeral services for Michael R. "Mike" Hollenshead, age 52, of Columbia will be held 1pm Monday September 17, 2012 graveside at the Lebanon Cemetery at Homer, LA. Dr. Randy Hales will be officiating the service which will be under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be on Sunday evening September 16, from 5pm until 9pm at the funeral home located at 7131 U S Highway 165, Columbia. Michael Ray Hollenshead was born on July 9, 1960 at Lafayette, La.to the union of his parents,Bobby Ray Hollenshead and Mary Geneva (Andrews) Hollenhead, and passed from this life on Friday, September 14, 2012 at his residence following a courageous and extended battle with cancer. Known by everyone as Mike, he was a tooling supervisor for Wallace Moulding in Columbia for eleven years. Michael was loved by all who knew him, and his family was the light and love of his life. Left to cherish his memory, his wife of eight years, Diane Hollenshead, of Columbia; one son, Logan Whitten of Clarks, his parents, Bobby Ray Hollenshead and Geneva Hollenshead of Homer; two sisters, Marilyn Jernigan and husband Larry of Minden; and Cindy Hollenshead of Homer; a host of nieces and nephews, and his beloved poodle Bear Hollenshead. Serving as pallbearers will be Ben Wood, Ronnie Veitch, Kevin Jernigan, John Acklen, Logan Whitten, and Joe Smith. Honorary pallbearers include Craig McMullen, Justin McMullen,Wayne Powell, Larry Jernigan,and Dan Wallace. The Family would like to extend a Special thank you to Agape Hospice and their special staff members, Kari Beardon,Kim Graham, Bro. Edward Shorts, and Cheryl; and all the Special Care Givers.
