Obituary of Charles Armstrong
Funeral services for Charles Michael "Mike" Armstrong age 56 of Columbia will be held 2pm Wednesday October 17, 2012 from the Grace Christian Mission with Bro. Ivy Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Star Cemetery at Kelly. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia from 5pm until 8pm. Mike was born on September 9, 1956 at Monroe, LA, to the union of his parents, Charlie Floyd Armstrong and Mattie Lee Franks Armstrong ; and passed from this life on Sunday October 14, 2012 at the Franklin Parish Medical Center, following an extended illness .Mike was a special person to know. He was a Jokester, and used his musical talents to entertain his friends and family, especially the Guitar, which he loved, and singing gospel music. He was preceded in death by his father, and by a sister Theresa Faye Armstrong. Mike was an active member of the Grace Christian Mission in Columbia. Left to cherish his memory, his beloved mother, Mrs. Mattie Lee Franks Armstrong of Columbia; one son, Justin Parker of Olla; three daughters, Michelle Jones and husband Lee of West Monroe; Mandy Thurston and husband Darrell of Calhoun, and Lacey Lee Armstrong; his brother, Billy Gene Armstrong and wife Sara, of Calvin; four sisters, Paula Denise Peavy and husband Leighton of Nebo; Peggy Lee Moore and husband Clarence of Kelly; Marilyn Ann Harker and husband Marc of Nebraska City, NE; and Susan Diane Templeton, of Columbia; a host of grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Davis, Willis Davis, John Allen Davis, Russell McMullen, Shannon Tarver, and Ken Williamson. Honorary pallbearers include Roy McMullen, Squeaky Alford and Louis Whitlock.
