Obituary of Robert Newell

Funeral services for Robert L. Newell, age 65 of Clarks, LA, will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 19, 2013 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Bro. E.R. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson, LA. Visitation will be held on Saturday at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA from 12 PM until time of service. Mr. Newell was born in Olla, LA on October 16, 1947 to the union of Ilot and Edna Crain Newell and passed from this life on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe, LA. He served and fought with the US Army in the Vietnam War and retired after 16 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Mildred Newell Bostic, Annie Newell and Mary Newell and his brother, Roger Dale Newell. Survivors include his son, Robert Scott Newell of Portland, OR; two daughters: Nancy Deann Newell and Karen Newell Amaral and husband, Anthony both of Albany, OR and special friend, Ethel Sweet of Grayson, LA. Pallbearers will be Glen Belk, Tillman Sweet, David Callender, Keith Wilkins, Kenneth Dunn and Eddie Dunn. Honorary pallbearers will be J.T. Thompson, Glen Barnhill, Bud Callender, Carol Belk and Louis Cockerham.
