Obituary of Sarah Greene

Funeral services for Sarah F. Greene, age 66, of Columbia will be held 10am Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Columbia Heights Baptist Church with Rev, Warren Maxwell officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery at Clarks, under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 5pm until 8pm at the funeral home, and again on Thursday from 9am until time of service at the church. Sarah Fay Greene was born on May 21, 1946 at Grayson, LA to the union of her parents, Ivan Clyde Greene and Ethel Belle (Riser) Greene. She passed from this life on Sunday January 27, 2013 at her residence in the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia; where she had been a resident for many, many years. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister Nancy Jane Greene. Survivors include, her sister, Mary Greene Poole and husband Howard of Grayson, two brothers, Ivan Clyde Greene, Jr. and wife Joy of Wilsonville, Alabama; and Marion Thomas "Tom" Greene and wife Annie of Zachary, two aunts, Ruth Riser of Columbia, and Dorothy Riser Russell of Monroe; her uncle, John Lewis Greene of Pensacola, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers include Stephen Briscoe, Paul Briscoe, Aaron Briscoe, Lynn Briscoe, Ivan Greene, III; and Tony Childress. The Greene Family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia, for their many years of unselfish giving, in the care of their beloved Sarah. Your actions of love through the years will never be forgotten.
