Obituary of Gaines Hillman

Funeral services for Mr. Gaines R. Hillman, age 77 of Grayson, will be held at 2 PM Friday, July 8, 2011 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Jimmy Goodman and Bro. Keith Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery in Clarks. Visitation will be Friday morning at the funeral home from 10 AM until time of service. Mr. Hillman was born in Eudora, AR on May 16, 1934 to the union of Lowell G. Hillman and Minnie Belle Dawson Hillman and passed from this life on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Mable Philley Gaines, sister; Betty Cupples and two brothers: Julius Hillman and Allen Hillman. Survivors include his son; Marion M. Hillman and wife, Mary Lou of Grayson, three sisters: Minnie Cook of Vicksburg, MS, Hydel Belle Keeling and husband, Charles of McGee, AR and Diane Johnson and husband, Buddy of Pinebluff, AR, two grandchildren: Thomas M. Hillman of Grayson and Renee Hillman Ellerbe and husband, James Colby of Columbia, two great-grandchildren: Samuel Cole Ellerbe and Haley Nicole Ellerbe, his uncle; Charlie Hillman of Eunice, LA a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a large extended church family at Old Bethel Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ray Busby, Mike Cook, C.H. Boyd, Bobby Pardue, Tommy Hillman and Jimmy Newsom. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Hillman and Bob Pardue.
