Obituary of Wilbur Garner
Services for Wilbur Lee Garner, age 73 of West Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 12, 2009 from the Chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Stuart Sherman and Rev. James Garner officiating. Interment will follow at Hebert Cemetery in Hebert. Visitation will be Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6 PM to 9 PM. Mr. Garner was born on November 9, 1935 in Hebert to the union of Charlie Leonard and Rosa Lee Duchesne Garner and passed from this life on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at his residence in West Monroe. Mr. Garner was a graduate of Columbia High School. He retired as a Captain with the Port Arthur Towing Co. after 35 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy for 14 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Betty Mae Murphy Garner, brother; J.V. Garner and two grandchildren: Trey Seab and Kyle Garner. Survivors include three his sons: Duane Garner and wife, Natalie of West Monroe, Walter Lee Garner and wife, Loren of West Monroe and Chris Garner and companion, Libbie of Monroe, daughter; Debbie Seab of West Monroe, step-son; Timothy Kerry and wife, Jennifer of West Monroe, step-daughter; Elizabeth Hart and husband, Byron of Winnsboro, brother; Ernest Garner and wife, Marie of Belton, Missouri, sister; Shirley Mullenix and husband, George of Hebert, sister-in-law; Myrtle Garner of West Monroe and six grandchildren: Justin Garner and wife, Adrianne, Will Garner, Nick Garner, Jessica Seab, JimTyler Hart and Noah Kerry, four great-grandchildren: Tucker, Tristen, Kylie and Rylie and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Will Garner, Nick Garner, Scott Mullenix, Russ Parent, Ryan Ballard and Byron Hart. Honorary pallbearer will be Glen Swett.
