Obituary of Wallace Henslee
Funeral services for Mr. Wallace Gordon "Son" Henslee, age 81 of Kelly, will be 2PM Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Jimmy Goodman officiating with full Masonic services to follow. Interment will follow at Lowe Cemetery in Kelly. Visitation will be Saturday evening at the funeral home from 5PM to 9PM. Mr. Henslee was born August 20, 1927 in Caldwell Parish to the union of Thomas Lester Henslee and Eva Marie Cruse Henslee. " Son" served in the United States Army during World War II. He began working in his father's wood mill as a child and ended up with his own mill in Kelly. He devoted some sixty plus years in the log and timber industry. His work ethic was instilled in him in his early years and was evident up until the very end of his life. He was an avid sportsman and family man, and was a member of the Holum Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Clarks Masonic Lodge. Mr. Henslee's family was so very precious to him and he leaves behind: his wife of sixty one years; Helen Jean Smith Henslee of Kelly, son; David Earl Henslee and wife, Ginger of Columbia, daughter; Carlene Stinson and husband, Steve of Ball, brother; Larry Henslee and wife, Pauline of Sicily Island, sister; Joyce Marie Fairbanks of Vidalia, grandchildren: Eva Marie Henslee Schulte and husband, Matt; Jennifer White Jones and husband, David;Ashley White Kelone and husband, Brandon; and Michael V. White, Great-grandchildren: Brayden William Jones and Maddox David Schulte, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers include Randy Hatten, Willis Martin, Dr. John "Rusty" Fairbanks, David Jones, Michael White and Matt Schulte. Cousins will serve as honorary pallbearers and they include Reginold Wycoff, H.C. Peck, Jr. and Faye "T Model" Thurman.
