Obituary of Cecil Girod
Funeral services for Mrs. Cecil Bennefield Tarver Girod, age 85 of Columbia, will be 10 AM Monday, December 7, 2009 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Riley officiating and Lee Piercy delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5 PM to 9 PM. Mrs. Girod was born in St. Augustine, TX on September 1, 1924 to the union of Joseph Loyd and Texas Easter Rash Bennefield and passed from this life on Friday, December 4, 2009 at Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe. She was a member of Banks Springs Baptist Church and a retired machine operator with LA Pacific in Olla. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband; Howard Tarver, second husband; Alon Girod, step-son; George Lynn Tarver, grandsons; Erik Brast and Howard Dean Tarver and four brothers. Survivors include three sons: Harold Wayne Tarver and wife, Teresa of Columbia, Larry Pat Tarver and wife Linda "Tweety" of West Monroe and Paul Donald Tarver and wife, Linda of Downsville, two step-daughters: Jeanette Bell and husband, Beverly of Jena and Sharon Bailey and husband, David of Whitehall, two brothers: Curtis Bennefield and wife, Faye of Orange, TX, David Bennefield and wife, Darlene of St. Augustine, TX, sister; Fay Wise and husband, Wilbur Joe of Chireno, TX, nine grandchildren: Angela Piercy, Adam Tarver, Sherry Tarver, Nancy Studebaker, Tina Tarver, William Hammock, Mike Dixon, Todd Dixon and Randy Dixon, twenty-four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Todd Dixon, Mike Dixon, William Hammock, Bryan Girod, James Girod and Charles Carraway. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Douglas.
