Obituary of Mitchell Antley

Funeral services for Mr. Mitchell E. Antley, age 90 of Columbia, will be 11AM Wednesday, January 6, 2010 from the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Columbia with Rev. Eric Harriman officiating and Keith Antley delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Columbia Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening at Riser Funeral Home from 5 PM to 8 PM. Mr. Antley was born in Point, LA to the union of Lon and Marina Antley and went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2010 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe. Mitchell lived in Point until WWII, where he served in the South Pacific in New Guinea and the Philippines. He retired after 20 years of service in the Army and Air Force. He was a Christian and member of Providence Baptist Church in Point for many years. After moving to Columbia he became a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia serving as a Deacon. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters and the mother of his children, Catherine L. Antley, one daughter, one grandson and his second wife, Alice Taylor Page Antley. Survivors include his three sons: Mitchell A. Antley and wife, Nancy of Rocky Branch, James E. Antley of West Monroe and Jerry J. Antley of Dallas, TX, daughter; Rebekah Postlethwait of Fulton, AR, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His extended family, Buddy Page and wife, Carolyn, Barbara Stamper and husband, Leeman, Mary Alice Caraway and husband, Walter, Patricia Wyant and husband, Ronald, ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Kent Antley, Keith Antley, Jerry Antley, Gary Davis, Stan Thompson and Chuck Massa.
