Obituary of Jewell Coates

Riser Funeral Homes Columbia,LA 71418 Funeral services for Mrs. Jewell Alma (Carter) Coates, age 86, of Bossier City and formerly of Olla, will be held at 10AM Tuesday, December 12, 2010 from the Columbia Chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery at Grayson. The Coates Family will have visitation on Monday evening from 4pm to 9pm at the funeral home in Columbia. Jewell Alma (Carter) Coates was born on December 5, 1923 at Urania, LA to the union of her parents , the late Troy Purvis Carter and Mary Alice McKaskel Carter. She passed from this life on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at her residence in Bossier City following an extended illness. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jack Coates, two sons: Jackie Ray Coates and Purvis Joe Coates, and by a daughter Bonnie Braddock. Survivors include: Four daughters: Emma Halliburton and husband, Wes, of Olla, Bobbie Roberts and husband, Sonny, of Clarks, Faye Simons and husband, Roger, of Olla, and Sybil King and husband, Carl, of Bossier City, LA. One son: Calvin Coates and wife, Darlene, of Lafayette, AL. Seventeen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Clint Coates, Stacey Coates, Dustin Lassiter, Joe Temple, Hardy Roberts, Eric Dulaney, Brandon Coates, Steven Coates, and Steven Dulaney.
