Obituary of Carl Girod

Funeral services for Mr. Carl Jeffery "Jeff" Girod, age 49 of Rosefield, will be held 2 PM Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Rosefield Baptist Church in Rosefield with Rev. Harrell Tucker officiating. Interment will follow at Rosefield Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening at the church from 4 PM to 9 PM. Mr. Girod was born in Columbia on August 10, 1960 to the union of Carl Severn Girod and Myra Guyon Girod and passed from this life on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. Jeff was a member of Rosefield Baptist Church and a 1978 graduate of LaSalle High School. He has been employed with XTO Entergy, formally Hunt Petroleum, for the last 30 years. Jeff loved hunting, playing cards, baseball and his family and friends. He never met a stranger and gave everyone a nickname. His love for life and his great laugh will never be forgotten. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife; Sheila Mayo Girod of Rosefield, mother; Maxine Girod of Rosefield, son; James Carl "Jamie" Girod of Rosefield, two daughters: Charly Marissa Girod and Anna Maria "Possum" Girod both of Rosefield, brother; Quincy Girod and wife, Gay of Queen City, TX, sister; Carleen Dumas and husband, Greg of Calhoun, three nieces: Hannah, Tara and Kaylie and four nephews: Colby, Connor, Severn and Jake. Pallbearers will be Greg Dumas, Sam Hodges, Timmy Cockerham, Andy Paul, Keith Ruddell and Nathan Roark.
