Obituary of John Tarver

Funeral services for Mr. John Allen Tarver, age 89 of Kelly, will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Daniel Hawthorne officiating. Interment will follow at Little Star Cemetery in Kelly. Visitation will be Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Columbia from 5 PM to 9 PM. Mr. Tarver was born in Columbia on April 14, 1920 to the union of Wiley Vanner Tarver and Ollie Powell Tarver and passed from this life on Monday, March 15, 2010 at Haven Nursing Center in Columbia. He was a veteran with the Army and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Columbia. He retired with Missouri Pacific Railroad having worked as a dragline operator. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Cathrine Carazza Tarver and two sisters: Ruby Gough and Elise Hendrix. Survivors include his two daughters: Mary Ann Thompson and husband, Joseph of Olla and Johnnie Fallin and husband, Leslie of Kelly, four grandchildren: Michelle Fallin Jacobson and husband, Chris, Katie Fallin Hillestad and husband, Trent, Crystal Thompson Benson and husband, Eric and Leigh Ann Thompson, three great-grandchildren: McKenzie Jacobson, Evan Hillestad and Lynzee Benson and special friend; Richard "Rick" West. Pallbearers will be Rick West, David Cummins, Anders Thompson, Chris Thompson, Richard Andrews and Hope Fallin.
