Obituary of Coy Smith

Funeral services for Mr. Coy Smith , affectionately known to everyone as "Pop",age 82 of Urania will be held 10am Friday April 9,2010 from the sanctuary of Urania Pentecostal Church in Urania with Rev. Clay Hutto and Rev. Denver McBroom officiating. Interment will full military honors will follow in the Urania Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4pm to 9pm at the church. Coy Smith was born on October 1, 1928 at Little Creek, LA to the union of his parents; the late Ethan Andrew and Lucy Mills Smith. He passed from this life on Tuesday April 6,2010 in the Veterans Adm. Medical Center in Shreveport following a brief illness. He met the love of his life Bobbie Lofton and they were married March 2, 1953. They spent fifty seven wonderful years together and were truly not only husband and wife, but best friends. Mr. Smith was a Veteran of World War II and a retired employee of the Louisiana Forestry Commission. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother Owen Smith. Survivors include his wife: Bobbie ( Lofton ) Smith of Urania; and numbers and numbers of children he and Bobbie adopted in their heart and claimed as their own. He also leaves one sister: Cleo ( Smith) Usery of Pollock. Niece: Wanda Smith Wages and nephews: Greg Smith and Ronald Smith. Online condolences may be sent at riserfunerlhomes.com .
