Obituary of Rev. Jim Richmond
Funeral services for Rev. Jim Richmond age 90 of Columbia will be held 10AM Monday May 17, 2010 from the sanctuary of Fellowship Baptist Church west of Columbia with Rev. Brian Rankin officiating.Bro Richmond's grandson Rev. Craig Franklin will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. The Richmond family will receive visitors on Sunday evening from 5pm until 9pm at the Riser & Son Funeral Home located at 7131 U S Highway 165 in Columbia. On Monday visitation at the church will be from 9am until time of service. Jim Richmond was born into a large family on March 5, 1920 in Caldwell Parish. He passed from this life on Friday evening, with his family by his side, at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia. The last thirty five years of Jim's life had been devoted to the ministry of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Although his home church was Fellowship Baptist Church, he had pastored Bellview Baptist Church and Banks Springs Baptist Church , both in the Columbia area, and also Zion Hill Baptist Church in the Olla area. When he was a young man he served in World War II under General George Patton. He was the last remaining member of his family, having been preceded by all of his brothers and sisters and his parents, and by his precious grand daughter Beverly Richmond, and by his great grand daughter Kassie Grace Franklin. Survivors include: His wife: Lucille (Josie) Richmond of Columbia. Two sons: Jimmy Richmond and his wife Rhonda of Columbia; and James Richmond and wife Barbara of Sapulpa, Oklahoma . Four daughters: Gloria Parker and husband Cecil of Picayune, MS , Janice Richmond of Jena, Kay Stinnett and husband Walter of Terrell ,TX , and Sharon Curtis and husband Glynn of Grayson. His remaining legacy includes eighteen grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and they include Glen Franklin, Craig Franklin, Scott Franklin, Stacy Hatten, Steven Hatten, Walter"Chuck" Stinnett, Joshua Richmond, and Matthew Justus. Honorary pallbearers include Rick Richmond and Charles Alger.
