Obituary of Thomas Esters

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Leo Esters, age 89 of Olla, will be held at 2 PM Sunday, June 13, 2010 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla. Interment will follow at Beech Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening at the Olla funeral home from 5 PM to 8 PM. Mr. Esters was born in LaSalle Parish on June 26, 1920 to the union of Elijah L. and Millie Arthurs Esters and passed from this life on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe. He was a retired logger having worked in the timber industry for many years. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Mae Taylor Esters, son; Thomas Jerrell Esters, sister; Eva Esters Schatzle and four brothers: Homer Esters, Otis Esters, Willard Esters and Stanley Esters. Survivors include his son; James Esters and wife, Janet of Olla, five grandchildren: Jerry Lynn Esters, Jaime Esters, LaShea Esters, Dee-Dee Williams and Minnie Lewis, twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
