Obituary of Johnnie Grant

Funeral service for Mr. Johnnie Sidney Grant, age 88 of Grayson, will be held at 10 AM on Monday, July 19, 2010 from the New Life Center of Holum Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Goodman and Bro. Winston McCarty officiating. Interment will follow at Little Star Cemetery in Kelly. Visitation will be Sunday evening at the New Life Center from 5 PM to 8 PM. Mr. Grant was born in Holum on July 21, 1921. He was a farmer that enjoyed milking his cows and raising hogs, chickens and his garden. He especially enjoyed seeing the little children come to his farm and pet and spend time with the animals. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son; Leon "Red" Grant, sister; Reba Mann, step-sons: Billy Bassett and Robert Bassett. Survivors include his wife; Carrie Waltes Bassett Grant of Holum, two sons: Maurice Grant and wife, Pam and Bobby Joe Grant both of Holum, daughter: Carolyn Maxwell of Holum, step-children: Gayle Dortch and husband, Jimmy, Joyce Price and husband, Jerry, Larry Bassett and wife, Melanie, Mary Mercer, Mike Bassett,Ricky Bassett and wife, Kelly all of Holum and Dorothy Baum and hsuband, Dale of Winnsboro, step-daughter-in-law; Billie D. Bassett of Holum, brother; Glen Grant of Holum, fourteen granddaughters, fifteen grandsons, nineteen great-granddaughters and twenty-four great-grandsons. Pallbearers will be Chance Grant, Corey Grant, Shawn Grant, Josh Grant, Justin Bassett and Michael Hall.
