Obituary of Carroll Stapleton

A memorial service for Carroll Gene Stapleton, age 71 of Columbia will be held at 2PM Sunday, August 1, 2010 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Harrell Tucker officiating. The Stapleton family will receive guests on Sunday afternoon from 12 noon until time of service at the funeral home located at 7131 U S Highway 165, Columbia, LA. Carroll Gene Stapleton was born on the 15th of January, 1939 at Columbia to the union of his parents, the late John Wesley Stapleton and Fannie Laura Davis Stapleton. He passed from this life suddenly on Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. In addition to his parents Carroll was preceded in death by two brothers: Rudolph and Paul Stapleton, and by three sisters: Frances Lowery, Reba Stapleton, and Uda Lee Stapleton. Carroll was a member of the Bellview Baptist Church and a United States Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War Era. He was a loving father and grandfather, brother and uncle, and all-around family man. He was an avid reader, loved to hunt, and loved his horses. Survivors include two sons: Josh Stapleton and Quinton Fifield, both of West Monroe; five sisters: Estelle Allen of Columbia, JoAnn Bresett of Calhoun, Arlene Ruddell and husband,Johnny Byrl of Olla, Virginia Ledoux of Swartz, and Betty Sharp and husband, David of Olla; and three grandchildren: Cody, James, and Ethan Fifield. He also leaves an extreme host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and other family members.
