Obituary of Vernell Riser I

Funeral services for Vernell A. Riser I, age 64, of Grayson will be at 12 noon Tuesday, September 7, 2010, from the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Rev. John Riser, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove Memorial Cemetery at Grayson. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11am until time of service at the chapel of the funeral home. Vernell A. Riser I was born on March 22, 1946, in Caldwell Parish to the union of his parents John Henry Riser and Lenory Compton Riser. He was a 1964 graduate of Union Central High School. He owned and operated Coopers Grocery in Columbia. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, cousin, and friend. Survivors include his beloved wife, Mrs. Alice Gates Riser of Grayson. Two sons: Vernell Riser II and Jarrell Dramone Riser, both of Grayson. Five daughters: Joyce Burns and La Zanda Riser both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Yolanda Brown of League City, Texas, April Morgan of Monroe, and Ashley Lewis of Baton Rouge, LA. Two brothers: John Riser, Jr. and Andy Riser, both of Grayson. Three sisters: Leneva Harrell of Grayson, Clotee Green and Viola Hawkins both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
