Obituary of Luther Reitzell

Luther C. Reitzell ,78, left this world for a better place Thursday morning September 9, 2010. Luke, as he like to be called, was a great man. He reared 4 children. He was a great father, grand father, great grand father, and great great grandfather. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper. He retired as a surveyor with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. He was born to the union of Alvin and Lucy Reitzell on May 8, 1932 at Kelly, La. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Mark Randall Reitzell on May 27 of this year, his parents, and by his brothers: Bill, Pete, and Homer, and his sisters: Mary McCarver and Louise Crump. He leaves behind his wife of fifty four years: Helen Legg Reitzell. One son: Wayne Nelson, two daughters: Cecelia Mixon and Marilyn Sharp. He also leaves eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; his brother: Paul Reitzell, his sisters: Leatrice Benson and Bessie Crain;also a host of nieces , nephews, and friends. Those who knew him loved him and he was a trusted friend. Our family sorrow is deep but we know he has gone to be with our Lord. Brother Jack McKeithen and Brother Sherman Jones will officiate graveside services at 2pm Saturday September 11,2010 at the Old Bethel Cemetery at Clarks, LA. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12 Noon until 1:30 pm at the Riser & Son Funeral Home located at 7131 U S Highway 165, Columbia. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Bond, Joseph McKenzie, Chris Wheeler, Stanley Bond, Esley "Bo" Auttonberry, John Robert Gaumnitz, Jeremy Lucky, and Jason Bond. Honorary pallbearers include: T.J. Bond, Robert "Bob" Crain, Gordon Ray McCarver, Glenn Benson, and Samuel Wheeler
