Obituary of Sr. Smith

Funeral services for Mr. James C."Lil Bro" Smith, Sr. age 78,of Columbia will be held 11AM Monday October 11,2010 from the Locust Grove Baptist Church east of Columbia with the Rev. George Lavender, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia.Visitation will be on Sunday evening from 5pm to 7pm at the Riser & Son Funeral Home located at 7131 U S Highway 165, Columbia,LA. Mr. James C. Smith, Sr. was born on August 8, 1932 at New Orleans to the union of Dave Smith and Leona Charles Smith Knightshade , and passed from this life on Wednesday October 6, 2010 at his residence following an brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents , his step-father: Rev. Samuel Knightshade , by his four brothers: Emanuel Knightshade , Dave Smith, Sr. , Samuel Knightshade, Jr. and Sylvester Knighshade. He served in the Korean Conflict in The United States Army. He was an active member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church. He married the former Mildred Williams on May 22, 1961 and they were married 49 years. Survivors include: His wife: Mildred Smith of Columbia. Two sons: James C. Smith, Jr. of Columbia and Jerome C. Smith of Columbus, Ohio.One Step-son:Cedric p. Williams, Gonzales,LA. Two daughters: Patricia Ann Barrie of Baton Rouge and Angie Washington of Richmond, Texas.His beloved Legacy continues in his grandchiuldren and great-grandchldren which he also intrusts to the care of their grandmother, and their parents. He also leaves a host of nieces , nephews , cousins , and other family members. Active pallbearers include:Willis Tatum, Joseph Williams, Paul Roquemore, George E.
