Obituary of Tommie Collins

Funeral services for Mrs. Tommie E. (Corley) Collins age 93 of Olla will be held 1:30 pm Tuesday from the First Baptist Church of Tullos, with the Pastor Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Olla Cemetery with all services under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Olla. Visitation will be on Tuesday morning from 10:00am until time of service at the church. Tommie Edith Corley was born on February 16,1917 at Pollock, LA to the union of her beloved parents ,who have preceded her in death, George W. Corley and Victoria Pearl DeVille Corley; and passed from this life on Sunday October 17, 2010 at the Winnfield Nursing Center in Winnfield following an extended illness. She met and married the love of her life George W. Collins who has also preceded her in death, along with a sister Robbie Converse. She was an active member of the Urania Baptist Church, where she loved her Lord . She was an writer for the Olla /Tullos Signal ; keeping everyone abreast of the Olla News, and later the Nursing Home News in the Winn Parish Enterprise in Winnfield. She participated in the Senior Olympics in Trivia and placed second. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and will be missed by all of her family and friends. Survivors include: Two daughters: Dorris Lane "Dee Dee" Loe and husband Shelby of Tullos, and Betty Ann Davis and husband Jerry of Westlake,LA . Brother: Don Corley and wife Joanne of Urania and her sister: Marga Retta Gray and husband Donald of Alexandria. Eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and seven great great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be: Michael Davis, Hunter Davis, Shelby Loe,II, Tim Lassiter, Chris Allen, Justin Lassiter, Jeffrey Lassiter, Jerrod Douglas, Tom Douglas, Mike Duprene, Hugh Lott, and Ricky Harris.
