Obituary of Margarette Blackwell

Funeral services for Mrs. Margarette Dove Blackwell, age 92 of Columbia, will be held at 2 PM Saturday, October 30, 2010 from the sanctuary of Welcome Home Baptist Church with Bro. Bruce McGee officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Hebert. Visitation will be Friday evening at the church from 5 PM to 8 PM then again Saturday from 12 PM until time of service. Mrs. Blackwell was born on August 3, 1918 in Meridian, MS to the union of Hugh Lloyd Dove and Minnie Levan Dewitt Dove and went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Columbia. She was a retired and great registered nurse and a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church. She was a loving wife and step-mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, her four sisters: Goldie Dove, Miriam "Sister" Dove, Virginia "Ginny" Dove and Alene Dove and three brothers: Walter "Buddy" Dove, Peter Dove and Winfrey Dove. Survivors include her husband; John D. Blackwell of Columbia, son; Steve Blackwell and wife, Doris of Shreveport, three daughters: Shirley Jean Jemerson and companion, Norwood Wall of Downsville, Phyllis Blackwell of Hebert and Barbie Shipp of Tuscaloosa, AL, eleven grandchildren: Ashley, Sherri, Hope, Kristie, Wesley, John "Clint," Nicole, Elizabeth, Joshua, Tommy and Danielle, eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tommy Shipp, Dylon Martinez, Joshua Martinez, Baron Blackwell, Dallas Singleton, Wesley Strawn and Steven Taylor.
