Obituary of Benjamin Nichols

Graveside services for Mr. Benjamin Crockett Nichols age 69, of Columbia, will be held at 1pm Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson with Rev. James Prince officiating.Services are under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. The Nichols family will receive visitors on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8pm at the funeral home located at 7131 U S Highway 165, Columbia, LA. Benjamin Crockett Nichols was born on March 6, 1941 at Urania, LA to the union of Harry Herman Nichols and Cecyl Scarlett Nichols, and passed from this life on Saturday, November 13, 2010 following a brief illness. He was a U S Navy Veteran, a retired employee of Transocean Oil, and was preceded in death by his beloved wife Melba Jean (Duke) Nichols; a son, Paul Nichols; step-son, Jeff Reeves, and his parents. Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Nichols of Columbia; his son, David Nichols and wife, Jenny of Ball, LA; two grandchildren, Jeffrey McDivitt and Dawson Nichols. Pallbearers include James Stuart, James Duke, Willis Martin, Caleb Duke, Wayne Jordan, and Rusty Smith. Honorary pallbearers include Shawn Duke, Waymond Calhoun, and Bubba Calhoun.
