Obituary of Gwendolyn Nelson

Funeral services for Mrs. Gwendolyn Cruse Nelson age 87 of Columbia will be held 11am Saturday from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Riley officiating. Interment will follow in the Chickasaw Cemetery at Olla. The Family will receive visitors on Friday evening from five to nine pm at the Riser & Son Funeral Home located at 7131 U S highway 165, Columbia, LA Gwendolyn Cruse Nelson was born on November 25, 1922 at Olla, LA to the union of her parents Charlie Bailey Cruse and Georgia Elizabeth Gilliam Cruse. She passed from this life on Nov. 24, 2010 at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. She was an active member of the Banks Springs Baptist Church in Columbia. She was preceded in death by her husband: Copeland Ray Nelson, her parents; her brothers: Wayne Charles Cruse and James W. "Shot" Cruse, as well as her grandson James David Cruse. Survivors include: her daughter: Barbara Carroll, her son Michael Nelson and wife Susan Griffin Nelson. Her son: Michael Ray Nelson , and wife Sabrina Guidry (Susan) Nelson and two sons Karson and Kollin . Also Michaels daughter: Cynthia Melissa Nelson and her three children,Trent Ryan, Laini Nicole, and Sarah Alyssa Williams. She also leaves her beloved brothers: Raymond Cruse and wife Virginia Bratton Cruse, and Raymond's two daughters, Patricia Cruse Richmond and Pamela Cruse Masters. Brother, Benny Ray Cruse and wife Virginia (Jean) Boggan Cruse and their two sons, Charles Wayne and Dana Ray Cruse. Pallbearers include: Michael Ray Nelson, Dana Ray Cruse, Charles Wayne Cruse, Jerry Cruse, Rodney Cruse, and Johnny Gilliam. Honorary pallbearers include J. T. Cruse and J. W. Boggan.
