Obituary of Alice Angerine Jones

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Alice McDowell Jones will be held at 10 AM Monday, August 22, 2016 at the Garden Valley Cemetery, 2241 Hwy 849, Columbia, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 1 PM until 5 PM Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy 165, Columbia, Louisiana. Mrs. Jones, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Columbia, LA. Alice was born in Columbia, LA on July 17, 1942 to the union of her parents, Varice McDowell and Helen Marie Broadnax McDowell. She loved taking care of children and that was evident in her profession as a para-professional teacher in Colorado and Louisiana. Alice was a proud graduate of Union Central School. Her hobby was playing Bingo. She was a member of Evening Star Baptist Church in Columbia, LA and Denver First Church of the Nazarene in Denver, CO. She was preceded her in death by her parents. Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Julius Lennard Jones and Michael Tyrone Jones both of Aurora, CO; brother, James McDowell and wife, Eloise of Chicago, IL; two sisters: Maxine Conner and Jackie McDowell, both of Grayson, LA; grandson: Donovan Jones of Aurora, CO and a host of nieces and nephews.
