Obituary of Helen Jean Smith Henslee

Funeral services for Helen Jean Smith Henslee, age 84, of Kelly, will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 5, 2016 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Pastor Andy Frost and Bro. Brian Rankin officiating. Interment will follow at Lowe Cemetery in Kelly. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Helen was born September 13, 1932 to the union of Clifford and Mary Cooper Smith in Winnsboro and she passed from this life on November 3, 2016 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. She had been a resident of Woodshaven Nursing Home in Pollock for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years: Wallace Gordon Henslee; her parents; brother: Ted Smith; Half-sister: Bessie Rae Ferrell. She was a member of Holum Baptist Church and loved singing gospel music. She worked at Grayson Elementary School for 24 years where she retired as cafeteria manager. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter in Clarks. Her family was precious to her and she loved them very much. She loved for her grandchildren to visit and enjoyed cooking and singing with them, and teaching them the farm life. She is survived by her son: David Henslee and his wife Ginger of Hebert; daughter: Carlene Stinson and her husband Steve of Pineville; sister: Anita Broussard of Baytown, TX; grandchildren: Eva Henslee Schulte of Hebert; Jennifer White Jones and husband David of Ball; Ashley White Kelone and husband Brandon of Pineville; Michael White and wife Kara of Slagle, LA; great-grandchildren: Brayden Jones, Maddox Schulte, Abby Jones, Maddie Kelone, Jenna Kelone, and Cayson Jones. Pallbearers will be Michael White, Brandon Kelone, David Jones, Reginald Wycoff, Elbert Rachel, and Steve Stinson.
