Obituary of Odis Randolph "Butch" Darden, Jr.
Odis Randolph “Butch” Darden, Jr., 74, of Columbia, Louisiana, passed away peacefully with family at his side, on November 12, 2016 at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center. He was born in Convent, Louisiana to Odis and Lorena Darden on December 3, 1941.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Eddie Crockett. Butch was a kind and loving husband, brother, father, papaw, uncle, and friend to all. He was owner and operator of Dardens Dry Goods for 25 years. After retiring from Dardens, he worked as a millwright for Hickham Industries. He enjoyed cook outs with family, attending ballgames, golfing, fishing, and hunting. Butch was always there to help family and friends in need.
Butch is survived by his wife, Nancy of 46 years; sister, Barbara Roberts; children: Odis “Butch” Darden, III and his wife, Vicky of Grayson, Louisiana, Johnny Darden and his wife, Cheryl of Kilgore, Texas, Deno Darden and his wife, Cheryl of Columbia, Louisiana, Tammy May of Grayson, Louisiana, Lori Broussard and her husband, Greg of Columbia, Louisiana, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Nick Rushing, Dolph Darden, Dylan May, Cameron May, Connor Darden, and Mark Roberts.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia and Monday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Grayson Baptist Church. The service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at the church with Bro. Rick Crandall officiating. Eugene Dunn will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson.
