Obituary of Larry Travis Brooks
Funeral services for Larry Travis Brooks age 75 of Hebert, LA will be held 2:00 PM Sunday November 20, 2016 from the sanctuary of Life Church in Columbia with Bro. Dean Love and Bro Don Boyette officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Hebert Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
Travis Brooks was born on March 15, 1941 in Shreveport, LA to the union of his parents William “Bill” Cleveland and Beatrice Martin. He passed from this life on November 17, 2016 at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria following an extended illness. Travis was a United States Army Veteran having served in the military from 1959 to 1962. He married the love of his life, Billie Ruth Womack Brooks on November 23, 1962 and after 54 years, she preceded him in death by 3 months. Together they owned Brooks Lawn Service Company. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and one brother: Charlie Wood of Rayville, LA. He was an active member of Life Church in Columbia.
Survivors include his son: Mike Brooks and his wife Tina from Hockley, Texas, daughter: Kim Taylor and her husband Donald (Fruit) of Olla, LA ; seven grandchildren: Ashley Phillips and husband Justin, Amanda Dulaney and husband Justin, Krystle Thompson and husband Jared, Kyle Berry, Kody Brooks and wife Bethany, Ciera Haynes and husband Chadric, and Angela Taylor and boyfriend, Brandon; fifteen great-grandchildren: Logan, Landon, Lance and Reed Phillips; Mason and Tanner Dulaney, Briar, Rayleigh, Jesse and Kase Thompson; Lexi, Anna Claire and Noah Brooks; Chandler Haynes and Maliyah Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sisters: Mable Tolar and Dorothy “Dot” Tolar; one brother: Walter Brooks and wife Lupe Jo; step brothers: Butch Cleveland of Baskin, LA, David Cleveland of Swartz, LA; step sisters: Martha Wiggins of Grandview, Texas, Billie Cleveland of Natchez, MS, Wanda Trimm of Pheonix, Arizona, Nanette Lee of Winnsboro, LA; and two special aunts: Helen Carter and Audrey Lou Williams and her husband Gene Williams.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Justin Phillips, Justin Dulaney, Kyle Berry, Jared Thompson, Logan Phillips, Landon Phillips, Lance Phillips, Kevin Tolar, Kody Brooks,Charles Cagle and Jackie Beckley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tracy Wheeler, George Mullenix, James Cagle, Dale Carter, Keith Carter, and the men of Life Church
