Obituary of Everett G. May

Funeral services for Everett G. May, age 78, of Columbia, will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 28, 2016 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, west of Columbia. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery west of Columbia. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 AM until time of the service. Services are under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Everett was born May 11, 1938 to the union of Marion and Gertie Stamper May in Columbia and he passed from this life on November 25, 2016. He was retired from the Department of Transportation after 28 years of work. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He loved to hunt, fish, and run his backhoe. He was a devoted Christian and a very serious and quiet person. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Nelda Griggs; brother: Waylon May. He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Pat May of Columbia; son: James Gaylon May and his wife Kristi of West Monroe; daughter: Debbie Green and her husband Glenn of Columbia; brother Eugene May and his wife Charlene of Columbia; sisters: Gloria Harrington and her husband Lowrey of Vidalia; Louise Powers and her husband Earl of Winnsboro; Yvonne McKeithen of Denham Springs; grandchildren: Bridgette Green, Dustin Sinclair and his wife Hannah, Katelyn May, Kasey May, and Garrett May; great-grandchildren: Samuel, Riley, Mason, Everette, and Henry. Pallbearers will be Joey Roberts, Billy Byrd, Mike Hillestad, Keith Hillestad, Jimmy Dale Young, and Cleston Fisher.
