Obituary of Vertie Lee Moore Short

Funeral services for Vertie Lee Moore Short age 84 of Grayson will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday December 7, 2016 from the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Crandell officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery west of Grayson. Visitation will be on Tuesday December 6, 2016 at the funeral home from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Vertie Lee Moore Short was born on November 5, 1932 at Columbia, LA to the union of her parents Ervin Odis Moore and Lillie Evelyn Sanders Moore and she passed from this life on Monday December 5, 2016 at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe following an extended illness. Vertie Lee was an active member of Grayson Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter: Faye Thomas , her grandson: Hunter Odom and by her sisters and brothers: Shep Moore, Odis Moore, Lottie Sue Moore, Lennie “Reecie” King and Pete” Bobbie” Fatheree. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, John P. Short of Grayson, her four daughters: Nancy Hight of Spurger, TX, Evelyn Whipple and husband Michael of Evansville, IN, Jenny Baker and husband Doug of Silsby, TX; Connie Lee Harris and husband Tom of Benton, AR; her four sisters: Louise Franklin and husband James of Grayson, Lola Bradford and husband Bobby of Olla; Dottie Lutrick and husband Johnny of Eros, and Patsy Eichelberger of West Monroe; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Douglas Baker, Terry Moses, Dakota Dial, Scott Canerday, Kenneth Fatheree, and James Franklin. Online registry/condolences: riserfuneralhomes.com
