Obituary of Hardy Matthew Sap Broom, Jr.

Graveside funeral services for Hardy Matthew “Sap” Broom, Jr. will be held 10:30 AM Monday January 2, 2017 at the Hebron Cemetery west of Grayson. Services are under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be on Monday January 2, 2017 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the funeral home located at 7131 U S Highway 165. Hardy M. Broom Jr. was born on May 22, 1937 at to the union of his parents Hardy and Willie Broom and he passed from this life on December 30, 2016 at Oschner Medical Center, Main Campus, New Orleans, LA following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister Chlotile Johnson. He was a United States Navy veteran. Survivors include his brother’s Bobby Broom and his wife Dorris and Leroy Broom; his son: Kelvin Broom and wife Dovieta; his daughters: Lisa McPherson, Becky Broom and husband Will, Candy McCauliffe and husband Nick. He was blessed with 8 grand children, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Matt Broom, Jordan Broom, Chris Broom, Elmo Tarver, Steven McPherson and Aiden Brown.
