Obituary of Etta Mae Wise Dortch
Funeral services for Etta Mae Wise Dortch, age 97 of Columbia, will be held at 2 PM Monday, January 23, 2017 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia with Rev. Jack McKeithen officiating and Mona Dortch delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery, Columbia.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Riser Funeral Home, Columbia from 5 PM to 8 PM.
Mrs. Dortch was born January 15, 1920 in McQueen, Oklahoma to the union of her parents, Thomas and Margaret Haney Wise and passed form this life on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Haven Nursing Center in Columbia, LA. Mrs. Etta was an avid speed reader that enjoyed any material that had a happy ending. She would generally finish at least one book a day and sometimes more. Mrs. Etta attended Clarks Baptist Church. She was a dedicated and devoted mother to her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Dean Dortch; daughter, Mary Frances Dortch Sanders; two brothers; three sisters; grandchildren: Dean Sanders, Mary Ellen Thoms and T.B. West; great-grandson: Baby C.J. and son-in-law, Jimmy Lee West.
Those left to cherish her memory are: two sons: Jack Dortch and wife, Mona of Grayson and Raymond Dortch and wife, Donna of Clarks; two daughters: Barbara Dortch West of Grayson and Edith Dortch Neely and husband, Harald of Port Gibson, MS; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Barry Dortch, Logan Dortch, Koby Dortch, Bobby Lee West, Clinton Wayne Fletcher and Lloyd Reeves.
Any planned memorials may be made in the name of Etta Mae Dortch to the Caldwell Parish Library.
