Obituary of Benny Joe Holmes

A Celebration of Life service for Benny Joe Holmes, age 76 of Youngsville, LA, will be held at 2 PM Saturday, February 11, 2017 from the sanctuary of Bellview Baptist Church, Columbia with Bro. Mark Dannehl officiating. Mr. Holmes was born on July 10, 1940 in Columbia, LA to the union of his parents, Joseph and Dorlis Finley Holmes and passed from this life on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, Lafayette. Benny was a retired operations manager in the Oil and Gas Industry. He honorably served his country in the Army. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of Bellview Baptist Church. He had a jovial personality that made those around him laugh and smile. He was a great storyteller that could enthrall you with his tales. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Elizabeth Holmes, Mary B. Holmes and Henrietta Richmond. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Sheila Cantrell Holmes; son, Joseph Andy Holmes of Amarillo, TX; three daughters: Darlis Malan Parks and husband, John of Natchez, MS, Sheila Renea Picard and husband, Tedman of Youngsville and Lannie Suzanne Nassans and husband, Robert of Frisco, TX; three sisters: Laura Lucille “Josie” Richmond of Columbia, Betty Bernice Byrd of Houma and Nancy Aileene Hancock of Houston, TX; ten grandchildren: Michael Dane Reeves, Kyler Malan Parks, Emily Parks, John Parks, Jr., Kayla M. Lemke, Layla M. Lemke, Brittny R. Lemke, Tommy J. Ransonet, III, Katherine E.M. Nassans, Gabrielle A. M. Nassans; three great-grandchildren: Addisyn L. Hess, Gracie R. Romero and Emery R. Fredrick and an abundance of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
