Obituary of Ruth Thelma Carr

Funeral services for Ruth Thelma Carr, age 84 of Alexandria and formerly of Columbia, will be held 2:00 PM Saturday March 4, 2017 from the sanctuary of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Brother Mike Green officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service. Ruth Thelma Carr was born on June 17, 1932 in Caldwell Parish to the union of her parents Sylvester Carr and Rosie Lillie Byrd Carr, and she passed from this life on March 1, 2017 at the Christus St. Frances Cabrini Medical Center in Alexandria following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her siblings: Ernest Carr, Cameron Carr, Horace Carr, Ronald Carr and Martha Jane Carr. Ruth was a loving daughter, sister and aunt. Left to cherish her memory are three brothers: David L. Carr and wife Rita of Grayson, Donald Carr of Coquile, Oregon and Sylvester Carr, Jr and wife Debbie of Columbia; her three sisters: Ruby Ingles of Winnfield, Audrey Odom and husband Albert Jr. of Pitkin and Minnie Lindsay of West Monroe; and a host of nieces and nephews and other family members.
