Obituary of Bertha Howard

Funeral services for Bertha Busby Howard age 86 of Urania will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday March15, 2017 from the Olla chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Brother Cory Fowler and Brother Benjamin Howard officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson. Visitation will be on Tuesday March 14, 2017 at the Riser Funeral Home in Olla from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Bertha Busby Howard was born on June 16, 1930 at Cottonplant, LA to the union of her parents William Wilburn Busby and Margaret Ann Mathew Busby and was the ninth child born to this union. She passed from this life on Sunday March 12, 2017 at the Hardtner Medical Center in Urania. Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of fifty-four years, Doc Cedric Howard, her grandson: Brent Dearmon, four sisters and four brothers, three nephews and one niece. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church. Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are her children; Daughter: Patricia Dearmon and husband Claude of Urania; her two sons: Curtis Howard and wife Mandy of Jena and Charles Howard and wife Valerie of Tioga. She also leaves behind one brother: Huey P. Busby and wife Artie of Clarks; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be the men of Pine Hill Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Dr. K. P. Mauterer and Dr. Brian Smith and the staffs of Hardtner Medical Center and LaSalle Nursing Home for the loving care and thoughtfulness that they extended to Mrs. Howard during her illness.
