Obituary of Tommie Snody Cockerham

Funeral services for Tommie Snody Cockerham, age 77 of Kelly, will be held at 2 PM Sunday, March 19, 2017 from the sanctuary of Springhill Baptist Church, Grayson with Bro. Johnnie Phillips, Bro. Bruce Weatherford and Bro. Dean Love officiating. Interment will follow at Roberts Cemetery, Grayson. Visitation will be Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 5 PM to 9 PM at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia then Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Springhill Baptist Church from 10 AM to 2 PM. Mrs. Cockerham was born on June 14, 1939 in Jena, LA to the union of Silbert and Stella Riser Snody and passed from this life on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Haven Nursing Center, Columbia, LA. Tommie was a devoted wife and mother who was a member of Olla First Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano and being outdoors with her flowers and watching the birds. She had many friends and family whom she loved and they loved her. Those preceded her in death are her parents; husband, Rev. Troy Cockerham; daughter, Kristi Cockerham; brother, Emeric Snody and sister, Clara Penney. Her legacy continues with her son, Mark Cockerham of Kelly; three sisters: Mary Lee Leal and husband, Alex of Vidor, TX, Lois Ross and husband, Earl of Pollock and Alice Stapleton and husband, Slim of Jena; grandchildren: Brandi Joiner, Joshua Cockerham, Elizabeth Savage and Sam Cockerham and great-grandchildren: Zachary Joiner, Cassidy Joiner, Ashton Cockerham, Elijah Savage and Emma Savage. Pallbearers will be Billy Peppers, Henry Fussell, Vince Stapleton, Wayne George, Gary Mayes and Eddie Westbrooks. Honorary pallbearers will be John Mayes and Robert Newsom.
